Eli Ink could be the most tattooed man in the world, after inking his eyeballs and the inside of his mouth in an 'artistic expression'. Eli is a tattoo artist from Brighton and like many tattoo fanatics, he sees his body as a canvas for a very special type of artwork. His goal is to cover his whole body in black ink and he's been tattooing all the inches over the course of ten years. Apparently, Eli has been inking himself bit-by-bit until he got to where he is now, which is looking like a close relative of Nightcrawler from X-Men. He's also into body modification, because why wouldn't he be, and he's filled his face with a number of stretchers that only add to his unique look.
Eli says his tattoos and modifications are both carefully planned out, and also totally spontaneous as a reflection of his own personality. He plans on using his dyed-black skin as a canvas for a new type of art and wants to use influences from Picasso's surrealist figures as designs on himself. The famous painter is apparently one of his greatest inspirations, who knows if he'd be flattered? The tattoo artist developed an interest in body art after his uncle returned home from a holiday abroad with a tribal inking on his arm, when Eli was just a child. He was quickly obsessed and though he's over the moon with his transformation he doesn't expect it to appeal to everyone: "In my opinion, the only person who will only ever understand my transition properly is me. I don’t attempt to describe it to anyone. I’ve always been blown away by art itself. Picasso is a huge childhood inspiration to me, especially abstract art, but I do like all forms of art. Body art was just the next logical step for me growing up."
Despite his weird aesthetic, Eli is in a happy relationship with another body-mod enthusiast called Holly who seems to understand his artistic expression for what it is. Eli is part of a collective called The Modern Primitives, who reference primitive cultures through the use of body modifications, and he's always trying to learn more about his trade. He's currently studying ear lobe reconstruction, tattooing, ear pointing and scarification and considers that he'll always be expanding his knowledge and growing in the industry: "I will never be finished. It will take me the rest of my life to finish my studies but I am dedicating the rest of my life to body modification and perfecting my work."
