Massachusetts – Hopkins police recently posted a rather interesting image (above) of a homemade license plate.
“Here’s a little advice to those aspiring to make their own license plates…don’t,” the department wrote on Facebook. “But if you do, make sure not to use cardboard from a pizza box and magic markers.”
Yup, that’s right. This guy tried making his own plates from pizza boxes and magic markers. It’s not exactly the high-tech rotating license plate from James Bond, is it? We don’t think anyone’s going to be fooled by it.
Still, we’re tempted to admire his gumption! He gave it the old college try. Although, the Hopkins Police department aren’t willing to be so generous because the unnamed man has been charged with driving an unregistered vehicle and attaching homemade license plates (is it us, or is that last one weirdly specific to this case?).
We’d like to know what you think of the guy’s artistic skill? Just for a comparison, here’s his DIY version vs the real deal.
Still, it’s a nice try to and get around tickets. Admit it, we’d all give an arm and a leg to be immune to traffic tickets of any kind. We’d probably try and make a more convincing forgery than this. Haphazardly grabbing the nearest flat white object and using a magic marker to scrawl a made-up registration on the back isn’t exactly spy-level deception but we admire the effort.
But what do you guys think? Would you try and get away with this sort of shenanigan? Or do you think it just makes you look like a muppet? Let us know in the comments below!
