What’s the worst thing a friend has done to you?
Or that you’ve done to a friend?
Have you slept with their partner? Have you stolen from them? Did you injure them? Frame them for a crime? Well, whatever it is you’ve done we can guarantee that there’s at least one person out there who is a worst friend.
We would like to introduce you to Mandy Vanhouten. Mandy was a waitress at a local bar where she worked the same shift as Leslie Underwood. As part of a (bizarre) annual tradition the waitresses at the bar where this pair worked would be given piles of scratch-off Lotto tickets in-lieu of a bonus. If a winning ticket was found it would be shared between the nurses on that shift.
Together, Mandy and Leslie worked hard to scratch off dozens of these tickets. Neither Leslie nor Mandy found a winning ticket. At least, that’s what Mandy said. Leslie, poor poor trusting Leslie, however, came into work the following day and found that Mandy was not there. That would raise alarm bells for me, but Leslie kept on trucking, until… well until she opened the local paper and found a photo of Mandy collecting a whopping $350,000 cheque from the Arkansas Lotto Foundation.
That’s gotta hurt.
Leslie Underwood has made it clear that this has left her feeling devastated, and she is considering legal action. However, it really isn’t clear what course of action she could take that would result in her getting her half of her cash. Only Vanhouten had signed the ticket, and only Vanhouten cashed it, so legally Leslie Underwood has no legal claim to the winnings.
Well, if there’s one last desperate ray of light to cling to, it’s this; at least Leslie doesn’t have an absolute b*tch as a best friend any more.
