‘The Last Jedi’, the second in the current trilogy of Star Wars films, is due to be released next month and we’re barely holding it together. Who is Rey? Is she a Skywalker? Is she a Kenobi? IS SHE NEITHER? TELL ME.
The last thing we needed was more cryptic Star Wars news but hey, that’s exactly what we got today when Lucasfilm announced a whole new series of films in the franchise completely separate from the Skywalkers. The new trilogy is set to “introduce new characters from a corner of the galaxy that Star Wars lore has never before explored” and will be helmed by ‘The Last Jedi’ director Rian Johnson.
Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, said in a statement "Rian is a creative force, and watching him craft The Last Jedi from start to finish was one of the great joys of my career. He will do amazing things with the blank canvas of this new trilogy.”. There’s a lot to be excited about here but I’m going to wait for more details first because I have to think of my blood pressure.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be in cinemas from December 15th
