Kissimmee Police from Florida have revealed that a man they have arrested beat his victim so severely with a vacuum cleaner that not only was his face beyond recognition, but his head was no longer attached to his body.
Police discovered the victim after they received a call saying a body had been found near an auto repair shop in Florida on March 14th. When they arrived they discovered the remains of a man that had been violently beaten. Brain and skull fragments were found on nearby vehicles and the area around the body,
“As soon as I saw the [victim] I was immediately taken aback by the amount of violence that had gone into [his] murder,” said one of the responding police officers.
The murder weapons used were a Dirt Devil vacuum cleaner, and a wooden plank.
“The vacuum apparently was beaten so hard into [the victim] the vacuum broke into numerous pieces and was spread across the area,” said another officer.
Surveillance footage of the area revealed that the suspect used the two murder weapons, as well as his hands and feet, to attack the victim. At 3:15am he left the camera’s field of view only to return shortly afterwards to resume the attack.
“There appeared to be five separate and equally brutal attacks made by the suspect towards the victim,” added the police.
The same surveillance footage was used to identify Olmeda Rivera. When questioned by police Olmeda revealed he suffered from mental health problems and did not remember the previous few days, nor could he explain the numerous cuts and bruises along his arms and hands.
According to the interviewing detective, when told that he was the suspect of a murder Olmeda “looked at me, smiled and laughed at this. He did not appear shocked, remorseful or concerned with any of this information; instead he seemed amused by it.”
Olmeda has since been arrested and charged with murder, and while police have confirmed that they have identified the victim through the use of fingerprint analysis, they have yet to release his identity to the public.
