Jon Venables has been reportedly attacked by a fellow inmate after a disagreement. The scuffle has left him injured and occurred after him and the inmate disagreed and had a “falling out”, after which the other man “went for him” with a pan full of boiling water.
It’s not clear to what extent the boiling water injured Jon Venables, although police did have to intervene to de-escalate the situation. Meanwhile Jon Venables has complained about how the police have handled the situation, saying that they “nothing at first” and when they did finally intervene they “didn’t do enough” to stop the fight.
An anonymous source from within the prison told the Daily Star, ““They’ll end up getting him. It’s just a waste of taxpayers’ money.”
Meanwhile it has also been revealed that Jon Venables had a girlfriend during his brief time out of prison. Initially the woman met him while he was using the secret identity provided to him by the British government, but once police realised the relationship was serious they stepped in and forced Jon to tell her about his real identity and past. Apparently, the woman chose to remain with Jon and was still his girlfriend when he was arrested over child pornography charges, for which he is currently in prison.
Police reportedly felt unhappy that Jon was spending so much time with the woman when she had close relatives of a young age who she frequently spent time with.
Jon Venables was one of two young boys arrested in 1993 after they abducted, tortured and murdered a two-year-old James Bulger. They left his body on a nearby railroad for it to be dismembered by a passing train. Police found evidence that the young boy had suffered hours of torture and sexual abuse until eventually dying from severe head trauma brought on by rocks thrown by the two older boys.
After release in 2001, Jon Venables was granted a new life and identity but was returned to prison in 2010 for possession of child pornography. He was convicted of the same offence again in 2018 when police raided his home and found thousands of indecent images of children, along with a bizarre and detailed manual that offered instruction of how to have sex with children without getting caught. The dubbed “paedophile manual” was instrumental in securing a lengthier sentence for Jon this time around.
