A man in Berlin has come under criticism after records of his behaviour emerged from the city’s ambulance service. The 23-year-old man, who hasn’t been named, became aggressive and threatening to the ambulance staff after they had blocked his car in.
“P*ss off! I’ve got to get to work,” he screamed at them. And after paramedics attempted to explain that they were trying to save a child’s life he yelled, “I don’t care who is being resuscitated!”
“He took up a threatening posture in front of me, as if he was about to hit me,” paramedics told local reporters. Police had to then be called so that the paramedics could continue to access their equipment. Thankfully they were able to save the child from immediate danger but the child is still in an induced coma as doctors work to stabilise him and save his life. The child suffers from a form of irregular heart beat that can cause serious health problems, possibly even death, if not treated and the boy’s father had some serious words to say on the matter of the unnamed motorist’s behaviour.
“This man's behaviour is unbelievable and inhuman. My son’s life was in danger, and he only thought of himself!” he said.
Currently the paramedics are not pursuing charges for the man’s threats of violence. But the man is still facing charges of destruction of property for vandalising the ambulance, and police are currently debating whether to charge him for obstructing rescue workers. The first charge can carry a two-year prison sentence, and the second can carry a three-year sentence. Hopefully, with any luck, this might just give the guy a sense of perspective on how much of a giant d*ckhead he was. After all, a five-year prison sentence (or hell, even just the threat of it) would give most normal people pause for thought.
Then again, this guy clearly isn’t normal.
