Avocaderia is Brooklyn’s latest hip parody of itself. Opened in April, it has a full exhaustive menu of avocado based treats both sweet and savoury that are proving a hit with diners across New York. The creators have chosen to make everything organic, free-trade and locally sourced wherever possible so you know you’re eating responsibly and recipes are often gluten-free and vegan so there really is something for everyone.
Seriously, the level of avocado madness here is off the chart. The menu includes smoothies made with mangoes and avocados and desserts with chocolate and… you guessed it… avocado! My personal favourite is the ‘avo-burger’ where the bun is just two halves of an avocado. Genius. Fans are fond of the fact that the burgers taste rich, decadent and fatty but all the fat is the ‘good’ kind.
Avocaderia is the world’s first quick serve avocado bar, ran by a team of three Florence natives. They used their Italian food knowledge to create an interesting fusion menu taking inspiration from Mexico, Japan and Egypt. New specials are being added all the time and they’re always experimenting with flavours and ingredients, which is what really sets this bar apart from other avocado toast places. Avocaderia is located inside the Food Hall in Building 2 at Industry City (254 36th Street) and serves breakfast and lunch Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.
