The Pokemon Company
You can relive your childhood at your nearest cinema right this minute because there’s a new film out that re-tells the original story of Ash and Pikachu. It’s called ‘Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You’ and its hella controversial. The plot is apparently good and lots of important aspects have been kept like Team Rocket’s Jessie, James and random New-Yorker Meowth. Misty and Brock however, long time pals of Ash and badass trainers in their own right, have been written out and replaced with two new best friends.
If you thought that was bad, then brace yourself. Pikachu actually speaks English, too. WTF. In the scene there’s a huge explosion and Ash begs his little yellow buddy to get into his PokeBall to recuperate but h just won’t do it. Young Mr Ketchum asks him “Why don’t you ever want to get in the ball?” and Pikachu answers, with HUMAN ENGLISH WORDS, "It's because I always want to be with you."
Hi, I am just learning that Pikachu speaks English in the new Pokemon movie and, yes, it is extremely fucking weird pic.twitter.com/k5hm5lyW7Y— Ryan Broderick (@broderick) 13 November 2017
Which yes, is very cute, but WHAT!? The audience is literally screaming at the new development and Twitter predictably has a lot to say.
