A Tennessee man was recently in court for sex charges involving a minor when he decided to push his luck by insulting the judge.
It didn’t end well.
Charles Nichols was stood before Judge Phillip Maxie when the 33-year-old was given a $50,000 bond. At this stage Nichols, possibly feeling a little bit suicidal, decided to antagonise the judge. He flipped off the judge, and everyone else in the courtroom, before telling him to go “f*ck himself”.
Judge Maxie allegedly told him to sit down and calm down or else he’d raise his bond. Charles Nichols, clearly feeling brave, made it clear he didn’t care. In fact, he went one further,
He dared the judge to raise the bond.
Cue a $10 million bond.
Charles Nichols was not concerned. He challenged the bench again and again until the affair finally settled at a whopping $14 million bond.
Does it remind you of anything?
