A woman has been found stabbed to death at her home in London just one hour after the bodies of her husband and two sons were discovered at a seafront in East Sussex.
The woman, who is understood to have been in her forties, was found at an address in Twickenham early yesterday evening after detectives discovered her husbands and two sons at Birling Gap at 5pm. Scotland Yard had been looking for the man, 57, and the two children of the couple when they stumbled on the tragic discovery. Police said they were called to South Road in Twickenham after concerns were raised for the welfare of the occupants.
Formal identification has not yet taken place, but police are confident the man and children were the dead woman's immediate family and the wider family has already been informed. There is no information yet as to what happened but speculation has suggested that the tragedy could be a murder suicide, with the father killing the wife at home and then continuing the bloodshed with their children at the beach before committing suicide. Post-mortem examinations are due to take place soon.
