Terry and Christian Sorrell, aged 54 and 18, have been arrested by police after an elderly woman was discovered in their residence in horrific conditions. The woman was discovered after firemen had been given a tip off about the situation. When police investigated they discovered a deplorable scene that left many of the first responders shaken and upset. The unnamed woman was discovered lying on a MegaMover—a special sheet designed for moving obese people—covered in urine and faeces.
The incident report also noted a two-feet high stack of energy drinks in Terry Sorrell’s bedroom and that garbage was strewn across the floor of the house, including in the bathroom. All adults in the house are unemployed.https://t.co/3jwIpNC4c4— wretchardthecat (@wretchardthecat) 20 March 2018
Her legs had turned completely back and had begun to rot, and the woman’s flesh was being eaten by maggots and cockroaches despite her still being very much alive. Firefighters at the scene report that the woman was incredibly close to death when they arrived. After finding her they decided to phone the police, citing a “moral obligation to report” the situation.
The tarpaulin that had been used to move the woman had been left there by paramedics when they first brought the woman to the house to be cared for by her relatives. It was white first deployed, but when police arrived they were shocked to find that the material had been dyed brown by the sheer filth the woman was forced to live in. A policeman who was one of the first on the scene told reporters,
“When I first walked through the front door I was overwhelmed with the smell of human faeces and garbage.
“The patient was still on top of the same MegaMover they used a month ago.”

Others at the scene also mentioned that the house itself was in a horrific state of disrepair. Rubbish lined the floor from wall to wall and was piled around the foot of the woman’s bed. The whole apartment was covered in trash with rats and cockroaches living amidst the garbage. The incident report described a pile of empty cans of energy drink that stood two feet high,
The woman’s husband and son have both been taken into police custody and have had their bail set at $22,000. They have been arrested on suspicion of neglecting an elderly or disabled person. Christian Sorrell, the woman’s son, told police that nobody in the house worked and that the financial situation was “tight”. He also mentioned that his mother had been bedridden for two years and that he and his father were the woman’s sole caretakers.
