Tyrese Gibson is an American musician and actor most famous for his early career as an R&B musician in the nineties, as well as for portraying Roman Pearce in the absolutely huge blockbuster franchise, The Fast and the Furious. Lately, however, he has also been known for starting to go a little off the rails.
It began with a feud between him and his fellow F&F co-star, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson that was initiated when Tyrese made it clear he would not appear in any future F&F films alongside Dwayne.
“I’m sorry to announce that if Dewayne is in Fast9 there will no more Roman Peirce (sic),” he wrote on one Instagram post, making his feelings quite clear (while mispelling his character's name). It seems that the crux of the issue comes down to the rumours of a potential Rock-centric spin-off from the F&F franchise. This has greatly angered the other cast members, especially those who have been in the films from the very start (looking at you Vin).
Tyrese has also been hit by an unpleasant and unfriendly divorce that has crippled him financially (at a later date he clarified that he isn’t mad at Dwayne Johnson, but is rather upset that given his circumstances no one has thrown him a bone) and he has made a habit of bearing all his personal issues on social media, airing it like dirty laundry.
One thing he has not been shy about are his financial woes caused by legal fees. And without F&F to help pay the bills it was starting to look like Tyrese was screwed.
That is until Will and Jade Pinkett Smith stepped in to loan the troubled star a chunk of money (around $5 million USD) to help him pay off his legal bills. There was, however, one major caveat.
He had to stop posting so frequently on Instagram.
Anyone else in this situation would take the hint. Here’s a load of cash, stop embarrassing yourself and GTFO social media for a short while. Simple, right?
Yeah apparently it isn't simple because he immediately posted this to Instagram. This just signals a phenomenal lack of self-awareness! Hopefully Jade and Will take it with a pinch of salt, and with any luck Tyrese can use this money to address his financial problems and get more time with his daughter. We could even hope that he may one day heal his feud with The Rock and return to the franchise that has made him millions and been his bread and butter for years. And then he might also stop his public breakdown because it's super awkward...
