Yes, they talked The Devil Wears Prada.
Meryl Streep, Queen of Everything, is on the December cover of Vogue and she looks amazing
Clearly the best way to celebrate this fact is to get her to do a sit-down interview with none other than Anna goddamn Wintour, Vogue Editor since forever and inspiration for Streep’s hit turn in ‘The Devil Wears Prada’. Now rumours suggest that Wintour hated the film and its apparent portrayal of her but she did famously turn up at the New York premiere wearing Prada, because she actually can’t help but be iconic.
Leading us to this exchange, right off the bat, from the Vogue interview…
Anna "Obviously, you've played a lot of extraordinary women. What was the most challenging woman you ever played?"
Meryl "Oh! I should say...” (points at Anna)
Anna "No. No. We're not going there, Meryl!"
Yessssss we love it. Clearly the two women are friends enough that they can laugh at themselves, and they go on to talk about seriously prominent issues like sexism in Hollywood and the new post-Weinstein industry. The whole interview is an important conversation between two crazy talented women on the top of their game, and we can all learn a lot from paying attention.
