You may have heard of the Mayweather v McGregor fight that took place last year. It was just one of the biggest sporting events of the last decade. But yeah, that happened and Connor McGregor—who had made the jump to professional boxing for the first time—lost to Floyd Mayweather who is often considered to be the greatest boxer of his generation.
That’s not bad for McGregor. You can’t deny that. But since then he’s been pushing for a rematch but on his terms. That is, he doesn’t want to step into the ring with Mayweather, he wants Mayweather to step into the octagon with him for a mixed martial arts rematch. Well yesterday, Mayweather tweeted something that *could* be taken as a message to McGregor. We’ll let you decide.
Welp, there it is. That looks pretty unambiguous though it’s far from a confirmation that Mayweather will be willing to agree to a rematch on McGregor’s terms.
That hasn’t stopped McGregor from responding.
He tweeted back almost instantly saying, “Very good. Keep up the good work my son. Yours sincerely, Senior.” Which seems pretty good natured, right? Well he also followed it up with this…
Fuck the Mayweathers. pic.twitter.com/1E4MQTWoUr— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) 30 January 2018
Fuck the Mayweathers?
Not really ambiguous, but not the first time McGregor has gone after Mayweather post-fight, once tweeting,
“If he wants to, lets f*cking do it. There's not a hope in hell… I'd like to see him come over to our side and have a knock.”
Although it seems that sometimes McGregor can be also be pretty respectful of Mayweather as he once posted the following on Instagram,
“[Mayweather is] strong in the clinch [with a] great understanding of frames and head position. He has some very strong tools he could bring into an MMA game for sure.”
Either way, the money made could be used to crush a small child to death. And I’m sure all these sassy tweets have nothing to do whatsoever with artificially building hype to a fight.
