Do you want to check out Clooney’s crib, see inside Swift’s setup, or peek into Pitt’s pad? Of course you do. And we’ve taken all the effort out it for you by making a list right here of the absolute best celebrity homes. Can you say #goals?
10. Taylor Swift
Swifty is worth over $170m and at last count has five properties in her portfolio from Nashville to Rhode Island. Our favourite, though, is her Beverly Hills mansion and ex-home of the late film producer Samuel Goldwyn. Purchased in 2015 for a cool $25 million, the mansion must have seen some incredible parties and was even used in the film Wuthering Heights. This year it got designated landmark status after all 10,982-square-foot of it was lovingly restored by Taylor…. All six bedrooms and five bathrooms of it.
9. Tom Cruise
Though he’s been trying to sell it since 2014, Tom Cruise still owns his $59m Telluride home so it makes the list. It has seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms and comes with 298 acres and a helipad… because of course it does. Just a stones throw away, Telluride Ski Resort has been voted #1 ski resort in North America by Conde Nast readers multiple times so you’ve also got somewhere to practice your Mission Impossible stunts. It must sting that it’s been on the market for so long, but we bet Cruise isn’t crying into his $550m fortune just yet.
8. Leonardo DiCaprio
Good news - Leonardo DiCaprio is selling his Malibu beach house! Bad news – it’s $10.95m. His bungalow is a minimalist, three-bedroom, two-bathroom home spread over 1,765-square-foot in the Carbon Beach section of Malibu, also known as Billionaire’s Beach which kind of says it all really… Sliding wood doors lead right onto the beach. Or you could take a dip in the oversized hottub, we don’t judge. This might not be Leo’s biggest property but we think it’s oozing with beachy cool and we love that he lets his mom stay there. Too cute
7. Oprah Winfrey
Bought in 2001 for $50m, Oprah Winfrey’s ‘The Promised Land’ lives up to it’s name. The sprawling 42-acre estate in Montecito, California has 6 bedrooms and 14(!!) bathrooms. It also has 10 fireplaces, a gourmet kitchen, two theatres (one inside, one outside), a wine cellar, a barn, ponds and orchards, a tennis court, a manmade lake stocked with fish, an outdoor entertainment area, and a huge guesthouse with a pool. Oprah is clearly doing very well for herself and we’re more than a little intimidated by her MONSTER HOUSE
6. Tom Brady
The most environmentally friendly addition to our list comes in the form of Tom Brady and Gisele’s $20m eco-mansion in Brentwood. Built completely from scratch by the couple, the home is made from over 90% recycled, antique or reclaimed materials. Spread over 14,000-square-foot it contains all the usual staples like eight bedrooms, a spa and a moat. And look at the gym! It’s making me feel guilty just looking at it… I’ll go next week I promise.
5. Jared Leto
Jared Leto’s $5m LA residential complex can’t be beat in terms of eccentricity. The 50,000 square foot compound is an ex-military complex where propaganda films were made, which means it enjoys its own studio and soundstage but also boasts a bomb shelter and helicopter landing pad along with art galleries, theatre, 8 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. Spread over mutliple levels and with a seriously quirky design, we think this house is a perfect fit for Leto.
4. Katy Perry
Katy Perry had a hard fight on her hands but she’s finally being allowed to purchase an $18.5m Los Feliz convenant from a group of nuns who opposed her for 2 years. Katy plans on moving into the estate "with her mother and grandmother, sitting in the meditation garden, sipping green tea and finding herself." Which sounds legitimately adorable. We love the 8 acre estate and we’ll be keeping an eye out to see how she decorates it when the time comes.
3. George Clooney
George Clooney has owned his Italian getaway for 16 years, and you can see why. Sitting on Lake Como, straddling Italy and Switzerland, Villa Oleandra has an incredible pedigree of visitors and Emily Blunt and John Krazinski were even married there! Guest house included, it has ten bedrooms, a swimming pool, a wine cellar and a three car garage. It also has all marble errrrything and we’re feeling the fantasy.
2. Richard Branson
We couldn’t not include Necker Island, Richard Branson’s actual private island in the Caribbean. The website says the island comfortably hosts 34 but ya know, we’d stretch a few more out on there. You can rent the island for $80,000 per night and that gets you the whole shebang from accommodation to a staff of 100 people and WiFi that stretches across the whole island. There are also two infinity pools, two hot tubs and free food, drink and alcohol. So you can follow in the footsteps of Kate Winslet, Mariah Carey and the Obamas and book your own stay… if you’re crazy rich.
1. Bill Gates
BILL GATES’S HOUSE HAS A TRAMPOLINE ROOM. This house has its own Wikipedia page, that’s how extra it is. Xanadu 2.0, as it’s affectionately known, is spread over 66,000 square feet and contains a pool with an underwater music system, a truly huge library (2,100 sq foot) and 24 bathrooms for some godforsaken reason. The tech is also out of this world. $80,000 worth of computer screens are situated around the house so you can set the actual house wallpaper to be anything you find online. Guests are given a pin when visiting and they choose their optimum heat and lighting that follows them as they move between rooms. Last but not least ‘The Codex Leicester’, a 16-century Leonardo da Vinci manuscript that Gates bought at auction for $30.8 million in 1994, has pride of place in the library. The house was estimated to be worth $155m in 2015.
