We’re not sure how you desiccate a watermelon. It’s almost entirely water, right? It’s right there in the name for cryin’ out loud. So why would you do it? Why not just… eat watermelon? It’s not like the water is bad for you right?
Anyway, a new foodie trend is eating watermelon jerky. It’s also called vegan watermelon jerky even though watermelon is always vegan unless you douse it in milk or bacon bits. But whatever, vegan is a buzzword and it sells, right? So yeah, vegan watermelon jerky is a thing. But we have worse news…
Everyone loves it.
And you’re going to end up hearing about it a lot this year.
It first turned up on the Instagram of Michelle Lee who is the Editor-in-Chief of NYLON when she posted about it saying,
“Starting the new year trying to eat a bit healthier. Got this @sakaralife Watermelon Jerky this morning which tastes like a firmer, less sweet Fruit Rollup. In other words, yuuuummmmm.”
So I’m just going to assume she’s either been paid or she owns stock in the company because that is the most transparent attempt to plug a product I’ve ever seen. Still, it might actually taste quite nice, right?
Hm, doesn’t look super nice.
Yeah, seriously, no one’s gonna shut up about this all year. Say hello to the new kale for 2018.
