I love experimenting with my hair. Wash out colours that last a handful of showers and hair chalk that you apply yourself can make trying new things easy and take away the element of risk. When you’re applying the colour yourself you get to choose how much you use, and on what bits… then when you inevitably mess up you can just scrub it out to get the perfect colour. There are so many products on the market at the moment for semi-permanent colour, we’re breaking down the top five colours you need to try at least once.
1. Rose Gold
It’s pink, it’s hazel, it’s strawberry blonde and your roots only add to the depth of colour. We love rose gold and it’s not going out of fashion anytime soon so why not try it out? Try Bleach London ‘Rose’ and ‘Awkward Peach’ together if you have light hair and let us know how it worked for you.
2. Silver Blue
🦄🌪🦄 blue silver dream hair 🙏🏼🔮🦄 this was the first time doing her hair and I love the result ! She had some banding & unwanted green so we cleared that up 🙏🏼🌪 #wellahair #halifaxhairstylist #pastelhair #hairgoals #bluesilver #silverhair #greyhair #bluegreyhair #silverbluehair #halifax #halifaxhair #oligopro #ashhair #wellacolor
Pastel blue/silver with dark roots is an amazing look and definitely one to try if your usual style is a little edgy. This one is trickier because you need to strip your hair first, but keep the roots dark for the biggest impact. If you have some experience in experimenting with your hair already this look is for you – try L’Oréal Colourista in Blue.
3. Sea Green
Hear me out! Everyone should try this at least for a weekend, but this one is really mainly for women of colour. You can pull off very bright colours a lot easier with a darker skintone and green makes a big statement. Keep the roots dark for another edgy look that says you’re a mermaid princess so you don’t have to. Try green hair chalk first with strokes of blue thrown through, and if you like it take the leap properly.
Busy day today! So excited. You learn so much about your face when it’s framed by such a bold, unforgiving colour. I recommend you try your hair black using a spray for an event like a fancy dress night out, because it’ll be gone after one shower if it completely washes you out. Superdrug have a spray called ‘black Haze’ that does the job. Start planning your Halloween look now and make sure it goes with your one-off black hair.
Use any of the colours I’ve already mentioned, or more natural tones and only apply them down past your roots. With natural tones the gradual colour can look chic and fashionable and it’s always best to go for something lighter than your natural colour. With bright colours like pink and blue anything goes! Just have fun with it and experiment – you might find out you look awesome with bright yellow hair. Live your best life
